How Hollybank Court Got Its Name

Hollybank Court, the modern apartment block with a distinctive round tower on London Road, was built
in 1962 on the site of a Victorian house Hollybank which had been demolished several years earlier.

Hollybank first appears by name in the 1870 Leicester Trade Protection Society Directory as the residence
of William Hunt Esq. J.P of Hunt & Pickering, 14 Gallowtree Gate who were ‘furnishing ironmongers, cutlers, bar, iron & steel merchants’.
